DecsaMonitor is Decsa's innovative 4.0 service that enables remote monitoring of vital cooling tower parameters, alerting Decsa in advance and promptly to any anomalies.

The service, implemented in collaboration with Onyax, is based on a TUBE-T3 sensor installed inside the  cooling tower, and an IoT platform that can record parameters sent by the sensor on a daily basis:

  • Inlet pressure of water inside the cooling tower
  • water inlet temperature
  • fan vibration

DecsaMonitor thus makes it possible to track and monitor the proper operation of the cooling tower remotely, wherever it is installed, and to anticipate and limit the extent of the problem with targeted maintenance interventions.

Thanks to pre-established alarm thresholds, DecsaMonitor is able to alert operators to the presence of an anomaly, and thus, to possible risk conditions: from a more moderate risk, which signals to pay more attention to one or more parameters, to a higher one, which communicates a serious anomaly and thus the need to immediately schedule an intervention to contain the problem.

Predictive maintenance

The TUBE-T3 sensor makes it possible to monitor the operation of the cooling tower and alert Decsa's specialized personnel when the problem arises, curbing the problem and avoiding the possible shutdown of equipment.

Performance monitoring

The DecsaMonitor platform keeps track of the operation of equipment, emailing specific or summary reports on the status of telemetry network operation.

Monitoring 4.0

DecsaMonitor resets distances to zero. The platform enables customers to keep track of the operating status of their cooling towers at all times, wherever they are installed.

Performance improvement

The reports provided by the platform allow the actual utilisation of the cooling tower to be known and thus improve future performance.

Versatility

The DecsaMonitor solution is as simple as it is effective: the sensor can be installed on new cooling towers and on already installed "retrofitted" cooling towers.

Measurement of cooling tower parameters

DecsaMonitor monitors the vital parameters of the cooling tower, sending the Customer the operating data from equipment. If the sensor senses one or more out-of-range values, the system triggers an alarm.

Here are the measured parameters and some possible anomalies that DecsaMonitor can monitor:

1. PRESSURE

A PRESSURE anomaly means:

  • Leakage into the system
  • Clogged nozzles
  • Pump failure
  • Poor plant management (water hammer)

2. TEMPERATURE

An anomaly in the TEMPERATURE of the water means:

  • fill pack clogged
  • Insufficient motor turns or abnormalities on the fan
  • Clogged intake grids
  • Plant abnormalities or insufficient flow rates

3. VIBRATIONS

Any abnormality of VIBRATIONS is an indication of fan malfunction such as:

  • Fan imbalance
  • Problems with transmission belts
  • Faulty corner referral
  • Defective bearing
  • Motor abnormalities
