Respect, care and protection of the Environment are more than just principles for us at Decsa. They represent our values. They are a lifestyle with which we intend to identify ourselves in our daily choices and actions. Simply because Decsa also means Environment.
Our daily commitment to environmental sustainability and the protection of the Earth results in daily actions, including the following:
- We use renewable energy from photovoltaic systems with a nominal capacity of 90 kW
- We are committed every day to recycling.
- We have reduced and stabilized water consumption ( -50% compared to 10 years ago)
- We have lowered and stabilized paper consumption
- We built a parking lot with 6 charging stations for hybrid/electric vehicles
- We optimized the lighting system with new office and production lights with lower environmental impact
- We decided to phase out the welding activity by using alternative methods in order to reduce atmospheric emissions as much as possible
Our focus on the Environment and eco-sustainability allowed us to achieve UNI EN ISO 14001:2015 Certification, defining Environmental Management System standards and testifying to the organisation's responsibility towards the Environment (visit our Certifications page for more details).
In 2024 we also achieved the important recognition of the Ecovadis Silver Medal.
Let's find out how you can be more eco-friendly: here are some tips:
1. Don't use plastic bags: use cotton bags for shopping.
2. Consume local products: shipping non-local products consumes more oil and increases the greenhouse effect.
3. Keep the temperature at home no higher than 20°C: live better (heating can have unpleasant consequences for the immune system), reduce heating costs and pollute less.
4. Do not use 'stand by' for household appliances: turn them off all the time: the Environment will benefit, and your bill too!
5. Use renewable energy sources, such as solar panels.
6. Like us at Decsa, choose and use electric, natural gas or LPG vehicles. And, when you can, use your bicycle or walk.
7. For your children, use eco-friendly nappies: the biodegradation of 'traditional' ones takes 500 years.
8. Reduce paper use with digital technology, sending and receiving documents online.
9. When brushing your teeth, do not leave the water running, but only open it when rinsing: this reduces consumption by up to 30 litres.
10. Use energy-saving light bulbs: they use five times less energy and last ten times longer.
11. Reduce the time in the shower: you consume 40 litres of water in 3 minutes and more than 130 litres in 10 minutes.
12. Use rechargeable batteries: you can recharge them up to 500 times.
13. Separate your waste: this is the most important contribution you can make to the Environment.
